A Table of the standard metabolic potentials of over a thousand species and blends thereof, of biochemical importance, at two temperatures and 3 pHs. The Table is supplement S3 (Table 2) of _Westerhoff et al (2026) FEBS J. Metabolic thermodynamics: pertinent reference state and energy potentials. In that paper it is described how the metabolic potentials have been calculated from the standard chemical potentials of the corresponding chemical species.
These standard metabolic potentials are the standard free energies of formation of substances from biological precursors in the metabolic standard state, i.e., pH=7, pMg=3, 99.5 mole % H2O, and 1 mM each of total inorganic phosphate, sulfate, bicarbonate, and ammonium blends. These standard potentials should be much more meaningful for biochemical and biological applications than the standard chemical potentials. The latter are the free energies of formation from the reference state of physical chemistry, i.e., H2, O2, N2 gases at 1 bar, and graphite, phosphorous, sulfur and magnesium solids.
