Since 1st of January 2015 I am Professor in synthetic biology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) institute of biotechnology. Before that I was research director in the non-profit research institution SINTEF. My major research activities are within microbial molecular biology, mainly combining metabolic engineering, synthetic biology and systems biology to develop microbial cell factories, and focusing both on the products and on the raw materials.
