In order to improve the MCC yield obtained from CSTR operation, an SBR operation was conducted varying the HRT aiming a greater caproate and caprilate production. On day 179, a yeast extraction in the feeding was assessed, and finally, on day 252, vitamins were also added in the feeding

When the pseudo-steady state was reached in every SBR operation (SBR HRT 4d (day 34), SBR HRT 2d (day 57), SBR HRT 1d (day 147), SBR HRT 2d+ye (day 253)) the cycle characterisation was performed monitoring the substrate and product evolution during the whole cycle with the aim of assessing the substrate consumption rate and the intermediate products which are produced during the cycle
