About Thelmo Lu-Chau:

Thelmo A. Lu-Chau is chemical engineer by the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo (Perú) and PhD in Chemical Engineering by the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC, Spain). He is currently working as Associate Professor at the Dept. Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Sciences (Lugo) of the USC. His research areas include the production of biofuels (ethanol, butanol) and biopolymers (PHA) from lignocellulosic biomass and cereals, the production of enzymes (glucanases and ligninolytic enzymes) by natural and genetically modified microorganisms, and the extraction of bioactive compounds from agro-industrial residues and their enzymatic transformation. He has participated in 10 research projects funded by the European Commission (2), the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology (3) and energy and environmental related companies (Abengoa Bioenergy, IFP-Energies Nouvelles, Veolia ER&I) (5). He is a member of the Spanish Lignin Degradation Network (LIGNOCEL) and collaborates regularly as an evaluator of research projects from Chile and Colombia.
