We have already demonstrated that the key metabolites of polyamine biosynthesis (arginine, ornithine, putrescine and spermidine) can be identified using HILIC chromatography coupled to the Orbitrap mass spectrometer, as can glycine, glutamate and cysteine used in glutathione biosynthesis, glutathionyl spermidine and trypanothione itself.
