An overview of systematic reviews of treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome with Chinese medicine

OBJECTIVE: To summarise an overview of existing evidence between Chinese medicine and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS),and to evaluate the strength and validity of these associations. METHODS: We retrieved systematic evaluations and meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials(RCT) evaluating Chinese herbal interventions in polycystic ovaries, including the use of decoctions or Chinese patent medicines. The quality of these systematic evaluations was evaluated using AMSTAR2 tools, while ovulation rate, pregnancy rate, ovulation rate, effective rate, serum hormones (testosterone, luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone) and adverse reactions were reported. Finally, the reliability of each result is evaluated according to the GRADE system.
